  • Description

Until recently the only option for instrument rating training in Europe was a full theoretical course requiring up to 200 hours of theoretical knowledge instruction, but the Enroute and Competency-Based Instrument Ratings for aeroplanes only are a part of a new approach that is supposed to make instrument flying more accesible, because the original courses were designed for commercial pilots and were necessarily intense.

This book is for aeroplane pilots who already hold an ICAO IR, and who can simply convert to the EASA version by completing the skill test and demonstarting to the examiner during the skill test an adequate knowledg of air law, meteorology and flight planning. This book contains all the information needed to answer the examiner's questions, plus tips and tricks not usually taught on such a basic course:

  • Human performance and limitations
  • Instrument flying
  • Radio navigation
  • Instruments
  • Air Law
  • Meteorology
  • Communications
  • Flight planning and monitoring
